You might want to take a look at Algebrator. I bought it some time back to help me with my Remedial Algebra course and I can say that it was really a wise decision. There are so many demos present which you can go through. You can also try out the questions related to function composition and function definition by just typing them in. Algebrator provides comprehensive description to the problems which helps to make difficult concepts very clear. I would say that this program is absolutely the best that money can buy.
I have tried out several software. I would confidently say that Algebrator has helped me to grapple with my problems on converting fractions, equivalent fractions and mixed numbers. All I did was to just key in the problem. The response showed up almost instantly showing all the steps to the answer . It was quite easy to follow. I have relied on this for my algebra classes to figure out Algebra 1 and Pre Algebra. I would highly advice you to try out Algebrator.
difference of squares, factoring polynomials and triangle similarity were a nightmare for me until I found Algebrator, which is really the best algebra program that I have ever come across.
